Different structures come apart in different ways. A four inch driveway and a reinforced footing are two very different jobs, and the equipment changes with them.
We break slabs into loadable pieces, protect the lawn and the curb line, and grade the base back out for whatever comes next.
Interior slabs come out with compact machines and hand breakers. We control dust, protect doorways, and carry the debris out without wrecking the space.
Old steps are usually solid mass concrete or block fill. We take them apart in sections and keep the entry safe and usable while we work.
Reinforced concrete needs saw cuts and heavier breakers because of the steel inside. We cut it into planned sections instead of fighting it.
Commercial teardowns run the same way at a larger scale. Loading dock aprons, pads, curbing, and paved lots all come out in sequence so the property keeps working during the job.
If part of the concrete is still sound, we will say so. Cutting out and replacing a failed section costs less than removing everything that is already there.
Demolition looks rough from the street, but it follows a plan. Every job runs through the same steps in the same order.
First we mark the work area and call in utility markouts. Gas, water, electric, and irrigation lines run under a lot of Cherry Hill driveways and yards.
Then we saw cut the edges where the old concrete meets concrete that is staying. A clean cut line stops cracks from running into the section you want to keep.
Next comes the breaking. Small slabs come up with a jackhammer, larger ones with a hydraulic breaker or an excavator bucket working from the edge inward.
We load debris as we break, so the site never fills up with rubble. Steel gets pulled out of reinforced pieces and separated for recycling.
Last we grade the base, tamp it, and sweep the area. You should not be able to tell where our trucks parked when we pull out.
Reinforced concrete gets a different plan. We saw cut the slab into sections our machine can lift, then cut the steel between them. Fighting rebar with a breaker takes twice as long and beats up the concrete that is staying.
The damage that costs money on a demolition job is almost never the concrete. It is a cracked water line, a rutted lawn, or a chipped garage door.
We call for markouts on every job that breaks ground and we hand dig near marked lines. Nobody wants to meet the gas company on a Saturday.
Machines run on protected paths so tracks do not sink into your yard. Sod and irrigation heads stay where they belong.
Interior work gets wet cutting and containment. Outside we keep the dust down so it does not coat cars, siding, and windows.

Neighbors matter too. We keep trucks out of driveways, sweep the street at the end of the day, and work normal hours so nobody gets woken up early.
Broken concrete goes to a recycling yard whenever we can send it there. Crushed concrete gets reused as base stone instead of taking up space in a landfill.
Interior demolition needs a path out. We plan how every piece travels from the basement or the shop to the truck before the first swing, and we protect the floors, stairs, and door frames along that route.

A standard two car driveway usually comes out in one day. Steps, walkways, and small pads often come out the same morning.
Basement, garage, and shop floors take longer because everything has to be carried out. Plan on one to three days depending on access and square footage.
When we are pouring back, we usually break out and prep on day one, then pour once the base is compacted and any inspection is done.
Clean concrete goes to a recycling facility to be crushed into base stone. Steel is separated out, and contaminated material goes to a licensed disposal site.
We include hauling and disposal in the price we quote you. There is no dumpster fee waiting at the end and no pile left in the driveway.
Weather moves schedules more than anything else. Frozen ground and heavy rain slow demolition down, so we build a little room into every calendar.
Permits depend on what is coming out. A driveway usually needs none, while removing structural concrete or working in the public right of way does. We handle the township paperwork on the jobs that call for it.
