About The Neighborhood

About Jordantown's Long History in Pennsauken

Jordantown is one of the oldest communities in Pennsauken Township, among the oldest pre-Civil War African American communities in Camden County.

Surveyors laid out its first town plots in 1840 on Rudderow land, along the old road from Merchantville to Fork Landing, today's Park Avenue.

By 1846, residents had an African Methodist Episcopal church, and Bethel-Hosanna AME Church still traces its roots there. Jordan Lawn cemetery on Haddonfield Road holds graves of Civil War and World War I veterans.

Pennsauken became a township in 1892, formed from part of the old Stockton Township.

That long history can mean homes of different ages on one street, so we match each job to the home in front of us.

Services

Concrete Services Available in Jordantown

Here is what we offer Jordantown homeowners and why each service matters here.

Driveway and Apron Replacement

The apron is where your driveway meets the street, and it takes the most wear. We replace the driveway and apron together with our standard 4500 PSI mix.

Public Sidewalk Installation and Repair

Many Jordantown homes have a sidewalk between the lawn and the street. When slabs crack or lift, we replace the bad sections with a compacted base and proper joints.

Concrete Curbing

Curbs guide water along the street and hold the edge of your lawn. We pour new curbing when an old curb breaks down.

Old Concrete Removal and Demolition

Before new concrete goes in, the old slab has to come out. We break up and haul away worn driveways, walks and pads, then grade the ground.

Sealing a New Driveway

A Pennsauken customer added our sealing service after their new driveway went in. Sealing helps protect the surface from water and de-icing salt.

Good Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Concrete Work in Jordantown

Who issues concrete permits for homes in Jordantown?

Pennsauken Township does, since Jordantown is part of the township. Denise in our office files the paperwork and sets up the inspections.

Can you replace my Jordantown driveway apron and curb at the same time?

Yes, and doing them together usually gives the cleanest result, since the apron and curb meet at the street. We include both in your written estimate.

Can you fix just part of the cracked sidewalk in front of my Jordantown home?

Often yes. If only a few slabs have cracked or lifted, we replace those sections. If the whole run has failed, we will explain why full replacement makes more sense.

How do you protect the plants and lawn around a Jordantown home?

We plan where equipment will travel before work starts, and you can walk the yard with us and point out any plants to protect.

Should I seal a new driveway at my Jordantown home?

Sealing is a smart step for many new driveways. It protects the surface from water and winter de-icing salt, and we can come back once the concrete cures.

What happens to my old concrete during a Jordantown driveway replacement?

We break it up and haul it away as part of the job, then excavate, grade and compact a new sub-base before the pour.
